Van die Landgoed bestuurder/wynmaker - From the Estate Manager/ Winemaker Beste Huiseienaars

Mooi so, so doen ons dit mos.

'Let's play!" Croydon Port Festival 12 March

On Thursday 12 March 09 the owners of Croydon Vineyard Estate went back to the roots of winemaking and what better way than to have as much fun as possible while you do this.

Homeowners are invited on a regular basis to share in the activities of the wine farm.

This time round the fountain was cleaned and turned into a bath of grapes for the homeowners to have fun in. First an introduction from the master (Beyers Truter) himself and then the grapes are stripped from the stems and in the fountain it goes..
As usual we wait for the kids to show us how to do it and how to have fun and then the big guns take over. And they took over in style (and loads of laughter)!!

While some owners preferred to stand on the side with a big smile at all the fun happening, others went wild trying every possible method to get as much juice out of the grapes as possible. On there hands and knees making sure all the juice of this new harvest is squeezed out to be turned into the next dessert wine from the estate.

Like the t-shirt said: Let’s Play and they did. Some were covered from top to bottom in the holy juice that forms the backbone of this signature wine estate.

The evening ended with a braai out on the lawn under the big yellow full moon where homeowners could sit and enjoy a picnic atmosphere and one thing is for certain.. this festive event got the thumbs up from all the owners that attended. Make sure you join in 2010!
